Day 48
These tiny winged creatures
flit from tree to tree.
With a fee-fee-fee
they are called the Chickadee.
Perched high in a tree
or upon my knee.
With a fee-fee-fee
They take a seed from me
With the wings spread high
They take to the sky.
With a fee-fee-fee
My friendly Chickadee.

ReplyDeleteThe little Chickadee, approximately 4 to 5 inches long with a wing span of 8.5 inches and weighing in at 11 to 12 grams. Bird flight is one of the most complex forms of movement in the animal kingdom. Evolved over millennium the shape of the wing corresponds to the birds need (speed, low energy, maneuverability). For an average human to fly we will require a wingspan of some 8.5 meters and we still will not process the strength required to fly. We fall very well though.
