Photo Tip: Taking a Falling Snow Photo

Day 57

How are you handling all of my Snow and Ice photographs? Well, here is another one!
It is snowing (no surprise here!). I wanted to try and capture the snow as it is falling.
My camera I call 'Edie' was set on 'P' and the ISO on 640 were set on an earlier photo shoot. I read somewhere to try and use your flash when the snow is falling.
I turned on my flash and gave it a try in my own back yard, as well as pointing the camera towards the neighbors trees! I like the effect! I will defiantly give this a try again when it snows! (it has stopped snowing, for now!)

(Like rain, my camera does not like it when it snows. Might need to find a plastic cover for her)

Shot from the left side
It does look like a blizzard out there! These trees were further away, I could of put on my boots and walked down the street to get a bit closer.

The back yard

I like this one, the snow on the ground looks soft and inviting for someone to make snow angels. The flash highlighted the snow flakes as they are floating down from the clouds.

I am thinking of taking a walk on a day through one of our nature trails, when it is snowing.... and giving this tip another try... It might make a fabulous Christmas Card!

Thank you for taking a look! You can always share your thoughts!

See you very very soon!

  1. Beauty cannot be judged subjectively, for what one person finds beautiful and appealing another may not. A common phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” essential suggests that beauty does not exist on its own but is the creation of the observer. Say this phrase in a group of people all observing the same thing and it has the power to create instant silence. Once uttered, any suggestion of the merit or drawbacks of the image may come across as anti-social or just plain rude. “There is a road from the eye to the heart that does not go through the intellect” this is where you find beautiful.
