Gold

Day 28

When someone thinks of gold, they may think of gold jewelry, gold coins, pirates treasures, or that winning gold metal in sports.

I think of our time in Vienna Austria, walking up and down the streets of Vienna, while eating pretzels and taking photos of famous, historical architectures like The
Cathedral of St. Stephan, Plague Pillar, the Hofburg, just to name a few places.

In gift shop windows and small galleries, there were many souvenirs of "The Kiss" a Painting done by the Austrian Symbolism Artist Gustav Klmit. He painted "The Kiss" in 1907-08. And his replicas, are seen everywhere! You can find post cards to coffee mugs, hand bags wallets to reprints of his work to frame and hang.

(When I came home I had to google Gustav Klmit to learn what a big deal he was in Austria)

Walking around Vienna, I found a Kiosk with hundreds of scarves of every color, design, Artist!  That is when I decided to have my own Gustav Klmit, "The Kiss". A scarf to take home and remember my trip to Vienna.

Checking out the tag on my scarf.. I discover that it is made in Austria! I assumed all souvenirs are made in China!

Thank you for taking a look at my photo!!

I shall see you tomorrow!

Lets enjoy life one sip at a time!

  1. “ A Kiss is just a Kiss” heard in the music and lyrics of Herman Hudfled in 1931 and sung by many other great artists through the years. Originally theorized by anthropologists, “kissing” was a learned behaviour dating back to approximately 326BC. While the true origins of kissing remains a mystery historians continue to seek out references throughout the globe. Of course today it is commonly accepted as a symbol of affection for another, although in some cultures , and times, there are different interpretation of a kiss. Regardless, this Artistic symbolism is an enduring representation of intimacy.
