My Town : Land Mark ; Cutbanks

Day 128

Social Distancing # 49

When you are visiting Prince George, one of the landmarks you will notice is the Cutbanks. They are visible from many locations around the city. The Cutbanks are a popular spot for eager types  who like to fill their shoes with sand by climbing up to the top!  The Cutbanks are located beside the Nechako River where there is a trail that runs from Cottonwood Island Park and you get a great view of the Cutbanks from the trail.

Lens Ball View ~ Cutbanks and Trail along the Nechako River

I enjoyed my walk along the river, the sound of the water, the birds flying from branch to branch, the smell of the cottonwood leaves.

Thank you for taking a look at today's photo!

I will see you again very soon!

  1. Cottonwood trees are widely grown for timber production along river banks, where their exceptional growth provides a crop of wood in 10 to 30 years. The average left span of this majestic tree is about 50 years. The wood is low value yet it is strong enough for crates and pallets. Our Park “Cottonwood Park” is littered with the broken tops of the trees, taken down in the winds storms, leaving the remainder to start again, sprouting new branches. The park is closed because of these dangers during wind storms. When the tree seeds itself one is reminded of a snowy day in winter as the seed laden cotton like fluff floats through the air. This can last up to two weeks leaving balls of fluff in the corners of the forest trails.
