Day 229
Doing my walk about the garden, camera in hand, I notice a bee hopping from flower to flower.* I was using my 24mm lens on my camera and I tried to get as close as I could before he flew off to another flower.

*A honey bee visits 50-100 flowers a trip*
Bees are flying insects closely related to wasps and ants, known for their role in pollination and, in the case of the best-known bee species, the western honey bee, for producing honey. Honey bees can thrive in natural or domesticated environments, though they prefer to live in gardens, woodlands, orchards, meadows and other areas where flowering plants are abundant. According to most scientists who have studied the disappearance of the bee population, suggest a combination of factors including parasites, pathogens, pesticides, poor nutrition, and habitat loss. One of the greatest threats to honeybees is industrial agriculture's widespread use of pesticides. It remains our responsibility to ensure we allow the bees to thrive, go to a garden and plant flower.
