  1. While in today's world we have four seasons, the ancient cultures recognized two or three. Carpo, was the goddess of autumn and the harvest. Skadi, the Norse goddess of the hunt, Autumn and of Winter. In the Celtic culture Braciaca was the deity of the harvest. While the modern names of winter and summer have been around for more than 1,000 years, the names of Fall and Spring are relatively more recent. This is partly because the two seasons were long viewed as secondary to summer and winter. In Autumn, the growing cycle gives us ripeness and maturity. The harvest is associated with abundance, prosperity and wealth. It has always been my favorite time of the year.
