Social Distancing #20
I think I am very lucky that we are still are able to go for walks at our local nature trails around Prince George. I had the this area of the park to myself..which was lovely. I could take a zillion photos of the ducks in the pond at Cottonwood Island Park.... then 15 cars showed up. We were all keeping the 6ft. Social Distance from each other.

I sat on the edge of the bridge which goes over the pond. It was quiet and peaceful while I was watching this couple swim and dive for their lunch. It felt wonderful sitting in the -2c sunshine... watching all the ducks as they were paddling around the pond.
When the 15 cars unloaded...I headed home for my own lunch.
Thank you for taking a look, I will see everyone tomorrow!

"Like the water that surrounds the duck, love surrounds you."
Duck 101.. This time of year, migration season, provides some of the best bird watching opportunities particularly water fowl. The biggest distinction in the duck world is between divers and dabblers. Watch what they eat (dabbler go bottoms up and divers take the plunge) and how they take flight (dabblers fly straight up off the water and divers patter across the water picking up speed before becoming airborne). Dabblers are most often found in shallow edges of the water wetlands whereas divers prefer the deep water in the middle of the wetland. The drake (male) is normally colourful and the hen (female) duller which provides some protection while on a nest. Here endeth the lesson…smiling
