Z is for..... ?

Day 25

Yes, today's photo challenge is Z is for... how many things can you name that start with the Letter Z? How many items do you have at home that start with the Letter Z?

Well, I think I have accomplished my goal.

Z is for "ZwiebelKuchen"

Zwiebelkuchen translates to Onion Cake, it is a savory German one crust onion torte made of onions, bacon, cream on a yeast dough crust or pastry crust.
In my family recipe, I used red onions for my Zwiebelkuchen to give it that rich color and the diced saute bacon. In the past I have used diced ham with the bacon.

There is something to be said about relaxing at the end of a long week with a glass of Riesling, or beer, and enjoying something hot and delicious from the oven!

Flight

Day 24

When I need inspiration, time to think and reflect and refocus, or just a plain old fashion walk!  I head off to Cottonwood Island Park. At any time during the year, you can always see something.. all sorts of birds, sometimes a fox, water fowl, squirrels, beavers just to name a few.

Today was no different, I needed some inspiration for my photo challenge. When I arrived at the park this morning, it was quiet meaning: no other people in this section of the park.
As I was walking along the frozen river (wearing ice gripes on my boots), I noticed hundreds of Mallards! I had decided to hide  among the Cottonwood Trees.  I was using my 75-300mm lens to watch the ducks awhile before continuing on with my walk.
Behind me I heard a truck door SLAM shut!
And..
The Ducks took Flight!

That is what this Challenge is about... you never know what you find when you
are not even looking!

Filter: Homemade

Day 23
The weather today is trying to either snow or rain, plus, it is windy and the temperature is 4c, but feels colder than that.  It was a risky walk when the sidewalks and the paths are very icy and very slippery! Well, needless to say, getting to my photo location was a challenge in its self.

Today's photo challenge is a home made filter. I used a clear bottom drinking glass and I also tried a mason canning jar with a clear bottom. This challenge fits right in with my theme, 2020 Vision!

I will show you the scene without the hmf, and one with the homemade filter. If you wish, you can share your thoughts.

I may try using my cell phone with this filter technique or, how about trying colored drinking glasses!

I must add: This was fun, and if the weather didn't chase me back to my car, I would of tried different shots, different locations.

Favorite Music

Day 22

I love all kinds of music, from Strauss, Bach to Jazz, Rock,Country and everything in between. It does all depend on my mood at the time! Sometimes music brings me back to a place and time....

The Chickadee Song:
Its song takes me back to a lake.. no motor boats, just us, our kayaks and sound of the paddle dipping into the water, we are drifting along the edge of the lake and listening.... high in the trees you can hear...A Chickadee singing!

Chickadee Song

Hi there, I'm a Chickadee-dee-dee!
Sitting high up in a tree-ee-ee!
If you look carefully, you can see me-me-me!
Hello there friend, come have
some breakfast with me-me-me!
These seeds are mighty tastee-ee-ee!
Won't you come have some food with me-me-me.
Oh look there is a strange birdee-ee-ee!
Trying to take a photo of me-me-me!
If I fly real fast she won't see-see-see!
Her picture will be bluree-ee-ee!

What kind of music brings back a memory for you?

Thank you for taking a look at today's photo challenge!

My Favorite Book

Day 21

I do not have a favorite book or author. It is what ever grabs my attention at the time. I lean towards historical and mystery rather than romantic novels. I look for books where ever I happen to be... yard sales, Book Stores, Grocery Stores, your box in the garage!

The Story says that my dad immigrated to Canada with a trunk full of books. Mom says it was about 60!

I take a book where I go, waiting at Doctor office, trips far and near, out side to relax on the deck, to the park with a coffee.

I like Books (color)

I like books (B+W)

I have read most of these books and I will be rereading some of these again. There are a few I will share and let you read, and some I will do a trade!

Question: Which photo to you prefer, Black and White (B+W or C ) Color?  You can let me know!

Thank you for taking a look today!

See you tomorrow!

Winter Walk

Day 20

Looking back at the weather from last week...trying to stay warm by wearing warm sweaters, heavy socks, and keeping the fire going in the wood burning stove. Everything was frozen including my vehicle!
Until today....
The temperature has warmed up... puddles on street corners... the street slushy. Last week, going for a walk, we are all wrapped up from top to toe... Today, coat unzipped, no hat, no scarf, finger-less gloves!

Finger-less gloves

Winter Walk

I have posted pictures of Chickadees landing on my hand before. That is something I don't get tired of experiencing.

Popcorn

Day 19

What is your favorite movie watching, book reading, marathon watching TV show snack?
Mine has always been popcorn! Finger licking, buttery, salted popcorn!
Back in the day, Friday night, after work, after the kids were tucked in bed, I would have a glass of Orange juice and a bowl of popcorn for my dinner!
I love the smell, the taste, and the sound of popcorn popping! Then add some melted butter, not margarine, but real melted butter!

Popcorn

Like wine, I think popcorn should be in its own food group!!

What kind of snacks do you like?

Enjoying Life One Sip & One Kernel at a Time!

I will see you all tomorrow!
