On Frozen Pond

Day 98

Social Distancing #19

Today's venture out I headed up to The University of Northern British Columbia.
The University was established in 1990 and last year 2019 there were approx. 3570 students attending.
This small research-intensive University ranked number 1 for its size in Canada. In 2019 UNBC was in the top three in its category for 12 straight years. We are very proud that my daughter Kim graduated from UNBC last year.

My main focus was on the David Douglas Botanical Gardens. This garden has an assortment of plants and flowers native to Northern British Columbia. The garden is complete with a bubbling brook and a pond that currently is under ice and snow.

I need to remember to come up here during spring, summer and fall to take some photos of the gardens.

Take Care and I will see you tomorrow!

Tiny

Day 97

Social Distancing #18

"Tiny", I start humming the tune 'Tiny Dancer', by Elton John!

With today's challenge, I found my grandchildren's Lego characters and since they are tiny and pretty durable. (have you ever stepped on Lego!!??) My little Lego men are going to climb the icicle today!  Yes! That little icicle  which I posted a photo on Day 91 grew!!

The trick is tying the rope around the 'John' and the icicle. John kept wanting to perform his  'Cirque Du Soleil' tricks and didn't want to cooperate! I decided that John should stayed on the bottom of the icicle to support ' Elton as he climbed up! The icicle was very slippery and Elton managed to keep his composure and give me a little smile!  I love it when my models and I create that perfect shot!

Lets see what adventures John and Elton will do next! There is rumor that they want to some Spelunking in a cave near by. Stay tuned!!

Thank you everyone!

See you soon!

Ice & Frost

Day 96

Social Distancing #17

Today we left the house for a walk. Fresh air is as much needed as wine & food. There are other important necessities, but, for the weekend those two items come to mind.

We headed over to Wilson Park, instead of turning right, we went left and explored that area. Some places there was actual rocks, gravel and dirt!! Other areas we were walking on top of 3 feet thick  layer of snow covered ice.  We didn't walk on the ice covered river we stayed safe.

Mother Nature had created some cracks in the ice, we were making sure we had solid footing. In a few places there were chunks of ice that had lifted creating an ice burg or mini glacier.

I had my Canon power shot sx530 with me... but sadly the battery was dead!
Good thing I had my I Phone with me and managed to capture these photos.

The ice was smooth as glass and under the lines the ice was so clear!

I find it interesting and amazing at the sculptures Mother Nature is creating while the earth is warming up to get us ready for spring.

Thank you for taking a look!

Take Care until tomorrow!

Laughter

Day 95

Social Distancing #16

I hope the following photos give you lots to laugh about. Yes, you can laugh with me or even at me! Laughter they say is the best medicine. When you are feeling down in the dumps, you are isolated from your friends, family and normal routines of life, as well as you are home schooling your children... time to find your funny bone and.... laugh!
We laughed at those individuals who are/were hording toilet paper, disinfectant wipes and groceries. I think laughing at yourself and creating funny moments so others can laugh is just as beneficial as eating healthy, exercise, keeping ones mind active, keeping the body busy, and working on those "honey do lists".

See you tomorrow!

PS, which photo is the real me in the morning, A,B,C, D or E?

Friday Fun Edit Day

Day 94

Social Distancing #15

Yes, its Friday and another week almost done!  Do you think Social Distancing becoming the new norm? It feels that way!
I hesitate to go even for a walk around the block or walk the nature trail these days. I feel as though that when I leave the comfort and safety of my home the virus is swarming around out there like mosquitoes with no fly swatter or insect repellent at hand. Just waiting for me, ready to attack!

Friday Fun Day Edits

The center photo of Nathan, Grace, Donnie and Audrey was taken for another photo challenge I completed in March 2018 in Nanaimo BC. Then I just had some fun with some photos I took with my I Phone and  used my editing programs!

I am hoping that you are keeping yourselves amused, happy and busy! That each day is a good one!

See you tomorrow!

Play Ground

Day 93

Social Distancing #14

Sometimes you just need to get out and venture to a park. Needing all the benefits of a walk and yes, remembering to Social Distance. It was -10c with with a wind chill of -13c. A brisk walk with my camera felt wonderful!  I had the park to myself, no people, just me, myself and I in my own thoughts.
I walked past the children's play ground... just foot prints frozen in the snow and ice... of what was... and lets hope that soon we shall hear laughter coming from the children's play ground.

I hold my lens ball in my hand... wishing I could place my loved ones inside... keeping everyone safe, sound and healthy.

Thank you for taking a look at my photo!

See you soon!

Day 92

Social Distancing #13

To day is April Fools Day, yes, today is April 1st, 2020! Was I thinking that at the stroke of midnight we would start a new month? Would we actually have spring and virtually no snow left on the ground?  Like magic the temperatures would be warmer and I can finally put away my winter coat and all the bits that go with it?
Am I the fool on this first day of April? A new month starts with a hope of new beginnings? I am the fool..and so this fool...will just have to be patient and wait.

April 1st 2020

April 1st 2020

We are doing fine and remaining hopeful. We are looking forward to the arrival of spring and being able to enjoy our yard and putter in the gardens while we are Social Distancing ourselves from the world around us.

Take care all!

See you again very soon!
