Back View and Front View

Day 159

As we were relaxing after a 'Rhubarb production day, and other activities around the house and yard. It was time for PJ's and a cup of relaxing tea!

The view from the back windows surprised us with a double rainbow! In between rain drops I took a few pictures of the rainbow! I could almost see the pot of gold at the end of the rain bow... or maybe its over the rainbow to the land of OZ?

While enjoying my cuppa... the view from the front windows was  truly amazing! The sunset and the clouds kept changing.. but I did manage one photo!

Now can you just imagine this  sunset at a lake or river view! It would of been just amazing.. then in a few moments it was gone!

Rhubarb Season

Day 158

It is rhubarb season! Our rhubarb is tall, crisp, tender, juicy and ready to be chopped and recipes created for our taste buds and stomachs!

There are so many great recipes from BBQ sauces to desserts. I usually start the rhubarb season with a tangy delicious Rhubarb Crisp or Donna Hennig's Rhubarb Lemonade. Not this year, this year is for new beginnings, new ideas, new creations!

As I was chopping the rhubarb, the smell took me back to my mothers garden, where we pulled a stalk of rhubarb and took mother's bowl of sugar and ate the rhubarb dipped in sugar.... oh those summer days!

As you can see the I am at step 2 of my creation... do I share the recipe with you or should I let you wait and see what I have created?!

Question of the day: Is rhubarb a fruit or a vegetable?

Street

Day 157

 Prince George BC has over 700km of roads. I had to google that information!

Today's photo challenge is 'Street'. What Street do I chose? My street, street near a park, coffee shop, leading into town, out of town? So many to chose from!

The one I picked is called Victoria Street. It is one of the main streets going through the middle of town. This street is named after the capital City of British Columbia.. Victoria, BC and of course Queen Victoria.

This view of the street, you can see office buildings, we have a new police station behind the trees, behind me more bank buildings, restaurant, a church and more.

As I was taking pictures of our fair city, people waved, honked, smiles and I guess hoped they would be in my photo!

Dainty

Day 156

I would love to meet the dainty, tiny lady who could wear these delicate dancing slippers. To see her and her friends dancing and twirling in the woods wearing these lovely slippers!

Mountain Lady Slippers

I had found only 2 plants of the Mountain Ladies Slippers. I will not share where I saw them. I could only find two plants in the area I was walking, and I am afraid someone will see me taking photos and pick these lovely flowers.

What a wonderful time of year it is to take a walk in the parks/woods/nature trails to see what Mother Nature has been growing for us to admire!

Water~ Reflection

Day 155

With the snow melting in the mountains creating a run off, our rivers are full of water. This is common for this time of year. I just find it amazing. I am in awe!  (Plus, may I add we have had a lot of rain these past few days.)

Walking through Cottonwood Island Park was truly amazing.. at every turn there just seemed to be a photo moment! Whether it was the wild flowers blooming, the green lush under growth, the birds flying tree to tree singing, the path dampened by the rain. Even the water from the river over flowing the banks into the park, the scene was beautiful and incredible!

I though that would be a great place to take a photo of water reflection. I don't think I was wrong. What do you think?

Being in this spot, I was the only person around. I could hear the different birds calling and singing! I felt like I was at some exotic location, not in Norther British Columbia!

Day 154

I was very hesitant at posting my blog for today. I wasn't sure what kind of photo to take... what would be appropriate. But, life's circumstance kept me at home. Which gave me another idea.

Before I continue... I need to say one thing:

Please, Please, just be kind to each other! What ever your religion, color, and other labels we give each other... just be &^%$ kind.

Today's photo challenge is Teeny Tiny ~ Art.

For years I have been whining that I do not have a R.G. Tansey  painting. Rose is my Aunt and she is an artist. Her paintings hung at her home, galleries around Saskatchewan and in my parents home.

With my mother's move... I acquired 2 of my Aunt Rose's water colors!

As the story goes... I had forgotten that I do have some pieces of art from my aunt. Very tiny pieces of art.

 After WW2, Rose as a young adult, did some painting to help provide for her family.  When, I was given these tiny charms, my mother told me that my aunt painted them... I was amazed!

My aunt no longer paints, she is now in Long Term Care with my uncle. And with Covid... we cannot go and visit her. The few pieces I have... I will cherish. I am glad to say that her daughter, my cousin is also an artist... the legacy continues.

To sit among the wild flowers and dream ...

Day 153

Today's photo challenge was suppose to be about 'Travel' and or Dreaming about...?

I thought I would head out to the airport and take photos of flights in and out of  Prince George. I have never seen our airport so quiet... nothing was happening. Since I was there anyways I thought I would take a few photos of the airport.

As I was crossing the bridge to head back into PG, I noticed on the bank on the river a cascade of purple flowers. I had to go check it out!

To my luck these wild flowers were on the bank of the Fraser River right at Bob Martin Park!

Maybe I am living in a dream world. I see cars and trucks crossing the bridge heading out of town. Traveling... and maybe some day soon I may be doing more than dreaming, but, actually doing some more traveling! To sit among these fragrant wild flowers and to dream....
