'H' is for ....

Day 138

H is for.... home, hearth, hope, health, hero, heart. Are just a few words that start with the letter 'H'. As I was working in our yard and planting the gardens, I had noticed a couple of Fiddle heads poking up on the lawn.

  1. There are more than 20,000 known species of ferns grown around the world. Many flourish both outdoors and as houseplants. The sword fern is a lush evergreen ground cover with its bright green, sword-shaped fronds. The young fronds, or fiddleheads, appear in early spring from their underground rhizomes with most plants eventually reaching 4 to 6 feet long. Fiddle head, when prepared and cooked properly are eatable and you often find them in salads. Once established in the garden, sword ferns can grow to a sturdy three by three feet and be carefree.
