Action Shot ~ splitting wood |
To take an Action Shot, choose Single Shot drive mode, unless you want a series of images, then set your camera to Continuous Drive mode. To stop the action, shoot in Shutter Speed mode. Your shutter speed range will be between 1/250 of a second (is what I used to get this shot) and 1/15 if a second.

Wood Pile |
Now that we have added wood to the wood pile... the only action we are looking for is a glass of wine... or maybe a shot of Cherrycello!
Until the next time!

"Splitting wood.... the local Gym!"
There is a tremendous amount of satisfaction (for me) in splitting a stack of wood then staking the firewood. The effort of swinging a maul and then stacking the wood is a tremendous workout. You work your arms, back, and core , it is a great cardio workout. A splitting maul is essentially a huge sledge hammer ( I have a 5 kilo maul) with a sharpened blade head. I found this one almost 25 years ago in Oregon State. It has seen a few cords fall away. Alder is relatively easy to split and is considered a soft wood and once ready for the fire pit it will burn quickly. Approximately 3 hours later I have a winter’s supply of fire wood, for 2021.
