Day 216
I have just one cucumber plant. The other 3 did not make it when they were planted in late May. Good news is that I just picked 3 fat pickling cucumbers and I have more coming (fingers crossed)! I have a plan for my cucumbers!
Though commonly thought to be a vegetable, cucumber is actually a fruit! Really I had never thought that!
High in nutrients and antioxidants that may help certain conditions. Cucumbers are low in calories contains a good amount of water and soluble fiber, making cucumbers ideal for promoting weight loss and keeping the body hydrated.
I used my macro lens and got up close to the cucumber slice. Can you see the
bubbles?
Back to the kitchen!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and check out my photo for the day!
Until tomorrow!

" The body is just 80% water, so we are basically just cucumbers with anxiety!"
Archaeologists believe ancient Mesopotamians pickled food as far back as 2400 B.C., according to the New York Food Museum. Pickles have been around for thousands of years, dating as far back as 2030 BC when cucumbers from their native India were pickled in the Tigris Valley. The word “pickle” comes from the Dutch “pekel” or northern German “pókel”, meaning “salt” or “brine,” two very important components in the pickling process. Although the process was invented to preserve foods, today pickled foods are made and enjoyed because people like the way they taste. As one of the earliest mobile foods, pickles filled the stomachs of hungry sailors and travelers, while also providing families with a source of food during the cold winter months.
