  1. It was not until the 15th century that "breakfast" came into use in written English to describe a morning meal, which literally means to break the fasting period of the prior night; in Old English the term was “morgenmete” meaning "morning meal." Historically, breakfast was not usually considered a necessary or important meal, and was practically nonexistent during the earlier medieval period. The meal really depended on where you live and the cultures you associate with from beer and bread to fruit, nuts, cheese and wine or perhaps an more traditional meal of bacon, toast and eggs. Nutritionists suggest this is the most important meal of the day as it breaks the nightly fasting, boost energy and replaces nutrient for the body.
