November 10th ~ November 30

 Day 314 ~ 334

Hello Everyone, I have returned home safe and sound from my Anti Lock down visit with my family.

I think this trip may have been selfish* on my part. I wanted to see the grand children before Christmas. I did this trip for me... to help with my own inner happiness and a moral boost!

(I did feel like a naughty child sneaking out like this.)

Day 314

Happiness is.... Flying off to visit family
In security at the Prince George Airport the first step to Grandma's Anti Lock down visit.

Vancouver to Calgary with an afternoon glass of wine!

Day 315

Nanaimo BC

Donnie and Audrey woke up to Grandma Julie at their house. What a wonderful surprise! The day started with delicious coffee and breakfast prepared by my 10 year old grand son. We then walked to Departure Bay Beach to roam the beach.

While we were at Departure Bay Beach

Audrey had a crow visitor... I think the crow was wishing  for a tasty treat from Audrey!

Day 316

It was a rainy day here in Nanaimo. While the kids were in school, we had a coffee and an inside day. I am glad I not only brought a book to read, but, my knitting needles too! My daughter in law Grace made the mug for Kennley, and I made up the mittens!

Hand crafted for Kennley

Day 317

Beach Estates Park ~ Not far from Nathan and Graces house, is this beautiful park. I have walked the park before in the spring time. I love to walk in this park in the fall/winter after a rain... at every turn I was taking a photo! The park opens up to the Departure Bay which is where the ferry terminal happens to be.

Day 318

Wearing masks we explored downtown Nanaimo and doing a little Christmas shopping!

Donnie and a Sculpture

I used my cell phone to take pano photo. I wanted to capture a photo of not only the sculpture but the church across the street.

Day 319

After a hearty breakfast of pancakes all dressed with yogurt and fruit, we again headed to Departure Bay Beach. It is only a 15 min walk.. downhill!

Playing with my Lens Ball at the Beach!

Day 320

Holly  ( I used my Iphone and added the snow!)

The one thing I have noticed and love about Naniamo, is that they can grow Holly! You see it everywhere! Unfortunately this bush/shrub doe not grow here in Prince George... but we purchase Holly to decorate our homes during the Christmas Season!

Day 321

Today I flew to Calgary, this time to spend time more time with family in Airdrie.

Day 322

Just like Kennley imitating her mom by pretending to take cell phone photographs, she also wears a face mask.

Who is that Masked Girl?

 Is she smiling?

 Day 323

Playing outside in the back yard.

Smile

Going for a drive

Day 324

Auntie Caitlin and Kennley face time chat

One of the things I have noticed with my grandchildren compared with my own children, is that they are growing up with video calls/ face book messenger calls, face time calls. With the help of their parents they can see us on a daily bases and when we come to visit.. we are not strangers.. not really... we are familiar... we are not just a voice.. we are a face to that voice.

Day 325

Day 328 Watching the fish at Bass Pro Shop!

Kennley just loves the fish, she would sit and watch them swim. She didn't want to leave... she told us bye-bye!

  1. The word “family” conjures up lots of images and is full of emotions. We can look at family with feelings of warmth, love, happiness, and safety. On the flip side, however, family can bring up pain and frustration and flat out trauma. Families are as complicated as the individuals that make them up. In the current environment it is especially important to reach out and connect with your family and especially the children as often they do not fully understand what is happening to their world. This is true of all family but particularly so for “grand-mother”. She is a source of great love, patience and kindness. She has ears that listen and hands of magic with arms to hold and despite the age, she retains the energy to keep up. Grand-mother is re charged in the presence of her children and grandchildren. A gift of love to her family is not selfish, but selfless.
