Upside Down

 Day 254

Upside Down: Having the part that is usually at the top turned to be at the bottom.

Going for a sunny morning walk and searching for something to inspire me to take that photo of 'Upside Down'.

Upside Down

While walking in Cottonwood Island Park this morning, I noticed the reflection of the trees in the water... upside down. The pond was like glass, and I couldn't help but watch the reflection, the upside down world before me.

As I was doing some edits on this photo, I notice 2 birds flying under the bridge. Do you see them? There reflection is in the water, making them look like they are flying upside down.

Until tomorrow!

Music

Day 253

My photo challenge and question of the day is, how do you photograph music? I am wondering how many musical venues are still open to the public during physical distancing?

You can hear music where ever you go, from the shopping malls, grocery stores, the radio in the car, at home and on your cell phone.

If I was in Nanaimo I would try take a photo of my grandson practicing the piano and his sister dancing to the music.

Record Player aka Turn table

When I was a teen I received my first record player. My first record was The Nutcracker!  I saved up all my extra money just for the latest records! That made my folks happy ha ha!

I used my cell phone and took the photo of this turn table for sale at Shoppers Drug Mart!

Music can take you on a trip down memory lane, bring to the surface powerful emotions or it just makes you wanna dance and sing!

I start dancing around the house to the Bee Gees, Strauss takes me to Vienna,  the Beach Boys and Bryan Adams remind me what life was like when we were all teenagers.

Music/Songs

I like all sorts of music, just depending on my mood at the time! I used an app to create this collage.

Until the next time!

Keep singing and dancing!

New

Day 252

September is the start of the new school, college, university year. As adults we sometimes start new ideas, projects, start going to the gym, taking work shops,  find a new job, or travel. Summer is coming to a close and the Fall season will be here.

Soon we will be putting away our summer clothes, flip flops and swimming gear, and out will come those warm sweaters and longer pants.

For me, with the chill in the air, I am think of starting a new project.... a cozy, stylish sweater to wear.

I found this sweater pattern to knit, and I feel fortunate to find the same wool at our local yarn shop Top Drawer.

New

Not only do I love the pattern, I love the feel of this yarn, very soft. I will take a photo when I have this project completed

Until tomorrow

Home/Harvest

Day 250

We are home safe and sound from our road trip. When you get home there are always things that need to be done, such as unpacking, laundry, downloading pictures, yard clean up, and a family dinner to prep!

Andrew, Danielle, Aleah and James went camping in the Vanderhoof area, and had a sleep over at our house. With that in mind a dinner was planned!

When you get a bunch together like this bunch, there is always one with a funny face, one with their eyes closed! Needless to say, today was wonderful!

Thank you to Caitlin's friend Andi for taking the photo! She didn't realize what a crazy bunch she had to photograph!

Until tomorrow!

Thank you !

Shawnigan Lake

 Shawnigan Lake, BC

 Day 241

We did an impromptu trip to Shawnigan Lake to visit Roberts family as well as having one of my sons and his family, who also lives on the island, to come and have a visit with us.

We left very early in the morning, it was still dark as we left town. I think we were the only travelers on the highway at that time of day. Just you, me, music and the yellow lines on the highway.

It took us about an 8 hour car trip to arrive at the terminal at Horseshoe Bay to catch the ferry to Vancouver Island.

On the Queen of Oak Bay ready to sail.

Day 242
Good Morning Shawnigan Lake! We have returned. I went out on the dock in my pj's to get this shot. A few minutes later the lake was disturbed by the early morning water skier, who did is daily ski every morning just before 7am.

Misty on the water

After the  day's chores were done, we swam in the lake, then I read my book and watched the 'Summer People' play on the lake.

On the dock

Day 243

At the end of another wonderful day at the lake. We sat on the dock enjoying the sun setting creating an orange cast on the water.

Day 244

Today we had wine with lunch! There is something wonderful about a glass of wine enjoyed at the lake.

 Day 245

Last night Nathan and Grace packed the car while the kids were sleeping. They did not know they were doing a mini road trip to Shawnigan Lake. They were surprised to us waiting for them!

They did not take long to unpack the car and change into swim suits to take a dip and do many cannon balls into the water.

I wanted to get a better shot of Donnie doing a cannonball jump into the water. I made everyone nervous, because I waded with my camera into the lake to get this shot!

Audrey planning her jump

We all enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner then an after dinner swim, relaxing with beverages, snacks and watching the stars come out. The kids were excited about sleeping in the bunk house, very reminiscent to when we were children and  being were allowed to sleep in the tent in the back yard!

Day 246

I always enjoy our morning cup of coffee with Roberts mom. Today, while everyone was still asleep in the bunkhouse, we noticed a visitor on the deck. He/she left their footprints.

It sure didn't take long before the kids were up, quickly ate breakfast and were in swim suits to paddle in the water this beautiful morning.

I am unsure when Robert and his 2 remaining brothers were last together and had a photo taken with their mother.

Snorkeling and paddling

Robert gave snorkeling lessons to Donnie, who spent along time face in the water watching the fish.

Home away from home

It was great having Grace at the lake, we got to play with our cameras and tried to capture the beautiful moon lite lake.

Night time at the lake

What a wonderful day, Nathan and Grace sitting at the beach, watching the kiddos swim/kayak/snorkeling/cannon balling! We walked, took photos, ate, drank, talked, visited and met Roberts family! I enjoyed spending the day with the grand kids and taking photos with my daughter in law and watching my son enjoying his family!

 Day 247

One last swim before leaving for home. Like all good things, they do come to an end. I hope everyone enjoyed their mini vacation! I know I did! When checking my photos on my camera and cell phone I was negligent in taking some photos of Nathan and Grace... but that only means I will need to go back to the island and rectify this situation!

Day 248

D is for .... Dinosaur and Dumpling dinner!

We took a walk in what I call The Thow Ancient Forest! I am sure there are trees that are over 200+ years old on the property!

I have a dinosaur for Kennley who is 20 months old, who not only loves dinosaurs but sharks too! So this photo shoot is for her!

Later Roberts brother Alex and sister in law Lee came to the lake for dinner. Lee gave us a dumpling cooking demonstration! So delicious, I do need to give this a try at home!

D is for Dumplings so tasty!

Day 249

Today we head for home. Somehow I feel as though I have been away from home for ages.. and some times I felt like we just arrived. There were so many great memories! I had a great time with Robert, his mom, and his family, and of course Nathan, Grace, Donnie and Audrey too! The weather, the lake, the people, the food and drinks... what a great vacation!

Now we are home already planning for the next trip!

I hope you enjoy the photos!

Thank you!

Until next time!

Fun Edit Friday

 Day 240

Today I thought I would do another I phone edit, using pictures on my phone and the  Adobe Photoshop Mix, an editing app I have downloaded to my phone. I have used it before, today I was struggling to get the images just right.

Fun Edit Friday..

I used 3 separate pictures of Audrey, Donnie and myself that were taken in Naniamo, the Sand Castle was taken recently at West Lake.

I had fun creating this image, maybe I need to play with photo shop on the desk top computer or find a large phone screen!

I will not be posting my photo challenge next week. I will be away from my computer, but I still will be taking a photograph a day and then doing a catch up posting when I return.

Be good, be safe!
