Day 289

Today we woke up to our first snow fall! One of many snowfalls heading our way says the weather forecasts! Since this is the first snowfall, I thought I would try and capture the yard at the same time as the snow is falling!

Snowing in the back yard

Are we ready for winter or are we in denial that winter is coming? Hmmm yes maybe!  Lets face it, this year here in Prince George we really didn't have much of a 'summer'! I must admit it was rather wet. Yes, we may have had a hot day or two now and then. And since we are determined and strong, we enjoyed what ever kind of weather Mother Nature threw at us!

Sunflower frosted in snow

The last man standing or rather sunflower! The other 3 were sadly brought down by delicate white fluffy snow!

Red Maple and the Sunflower

As we sometimes say.... This is typical Prince George, BC Canada weather!

As mom's we always make sure that the Hallowe'en costumes will fit over the snowsuits!  Welcome to Canada eh!

Thank you, keep warm, stay healthy!

Sunrise

 Day 288

This morning,I walked into the kitchen and was greeted with an orange glow coming through the window.

What a beautiful way to be greeted, by a gorgeous Sunrise. What a wonderful way to start the day... sunrise, coffee and the camera!

With such beautiful colours in the sky, I wanted to take a few photos. I loved how the sunrise coloured the glass that was sitting on the window ledge.

Sunrise and Glass

Then I headed outside to see if I could capture the colours in the sky before it would disappear.

We also had frost this morning... and you can see a bit of it on the sunflower leaves.

The sunrise didn't last very long....

According to Google, Sunrise here in Prince George BC was at 7:42am, some say the sunrise only lasted for a few minutes.

Thank you for taking a look at today's photo!

Until next time!

Orange

 Day 287

In the fall one of the prominent colours you see around you is Orange, orange leaves, pumpkins, flowers, sweaters, knitted wool socks.

Sitting in front of the fire place, I am watching the dancing flames. I see many shades of orange and yellow.

As I was adding more wood, I tried my hand at photographing a flame from a match stick using my macro lens.

Strike the match

Watching the match

I like how the match stick is starting to curl, and the orange bokeh in the background from the fire place. Can you feel the warmth now!

Time to add another log on the fire.... keep warm everyone!

Until tomorrow

Boots

Day 286

It is time to put away the flip flops, sandals, flat shoes and dig out the runners, hiking boots, rain boots, and soon the winter boots!

It was a bit challenging to be your own boot model... trying to capture a photo of the season wearing a cute pair of boots and socks..and taking a photo that is in focus at the same time!

Boots and maple leaves

The socks I am wearing I did make a few years ago.... they are a wool blend and oh they keep my feet warm in the winter!

Two of my many pairs of boots

My attempt using tripod and self timer

At times I may seem to be reluctant to dig out the runner and warmer boots, but if I can wear colourful socks, esp. hand made socks, then fall/winter is grand!

Until tomorrow!

Macro Monday

 Day 285

Sitting on my window sill is this small bouquet of Veronicas. Now they are starting to seed out and I thought I would try and get a few shots using my macro lens.

Veronica is most commonly native to the Northern Hemisphere with some species in the Southern Hemisphere. These showy perannuals bloom from spring into the fall weather.

You may see Veronica's in bridal bouquets, but they have been used as a remedy to relieve asthma and allergy congestion.

Veronica flowers represents loyalty and fidelity.

Have a great day!

I will see you again tomorrow!

Dessert Prep.

Day 283

We are celebrating Thanks Giving tomorrow. We are having 8 people over for dinner. I think it is a lot of fun to plan the dinner, the dessert and do the meal prep with family or with a good friend.

Today we baked our Rhubarb, Cherry Cello with Strawberry pie, and also a couple of pumpkin pies for our dinner tomorrow.

Betty mixing up the pumpkin pie

We shared the job of baking pies equally, Betty made the pumpkin pies and I took photos of her working away!

We always start our baking/cooking projects with a little something in our coffee!

And here is our finished pies.... cooling, and ready to be served after dinner with whip cream or with ice cream!

Pies are cooling

I cannot wait until dessert time tomorrow!!

Thank you for taking a peek at my 366 photo challenge.
