Paint

Day 17

We paint on canvas, we paint fences, inside a house, outside a house and many more items.
I paint Rocks.. yes Rocks.
I started a couple of years ago, painting rocks. I paint what ever inspires me, and it also depends on the shape and surface features of the rock/stone.

I do not claim to be an Artist, that title belongs to my cousin and to my daughter in law..they have earned that title. I am a dabbler.. and I have fun!

I paint stones on one side and the other side I write a short quote. Then once I have seal coated the stone. I walk around town, parks, trails and hide the stone for others to find.
They say, that you are to take a photo of the stone and post it on a Face Book site... then you have the choice to re hide the stone or keep it for yourself.I don't paint rocks for recognition, I do it to hopefully make someone else smile.

This one particular stone I hid at our local park. A young boy found the stone and gave it to his mother. She was having a rough week... and that stone with the quote helped her .... she posted the photo and her reaction... and for me .. getting a reaction from something I created whether its painting stones, knitting, sewing, taking a photo or cooking up a storm in the kitchen... if it has created an emotion any emotion from you.... it was all worth it.

While it freezes and snows here, I will continue to paint my rock collection... and you never know, I may be hiding a few in your neighborhood!!

See you tomorrow!

Enjoying life one sip at a time with paint brush in hand!

  1. You are an artist. Your medium is rocks. Don't make me call your daughter-in-law...

  2. The activity of using a skill to make things by hand is the definition of “craft”, that is the literal definition. Yet a more descriptive definition should include the use of one’s imagination with that skill. To create something from virtually nothing is in itself a treasured skill. There are days when one must craft their own sunshine and by doing so you craft away stresses. This then removes you from one world and places you in another where imagination rules and the outcome is beautiful. The practice of patience in crafting and process is a virtue that needs to come back. Sharing is a vital life skill and is synonymous with caring.
