Z is for..... ?

Day 25

Yes, today's photo challenge is Z is for... how many things can you name that start with the Letter Z? How many items do you have at home that start with the Letter Z?

Well, I think I have accomplished my goal.

Z is for "ZwiebelKuchen"

Zwiebelkuchen translates to Onion Cake, it is a savory German one crust onion torte made of onions, bacon, cream on a yeast dough crust or pastry crust.
In my family recipe, I used red onions for my Zwiebelkuchen to give it that rich color and the diced saute bacon. In the past I have used diced ham with the bacon.

There is something to be said about relaxing at the end of a long week with a glass of Riesling, or beer, and enjoying something hot and delicious from the oven!

  1. Interesting question. In Fact, there are only 1118 words that begin with a “z” in the English language (of course this may have increased in the last ten years with the invention of new words that seem to crop up every now and again). When thinking of pizza one thinks of Italy yet this dish is definitely worth your time. Part of the joy of cooking is the experimentation and “adjustment” of recipes get the wow moment from your guests. This Zwiebelkuchen is clearly one of those moments. Cheers
